Welcome to the "Semi Modern Traditional House," a project I designed to beautifully bridge the gap between our rich cultural heritage and contemporary convenience—a balance that feels right at home in the historic heart of Thanjavur. From the street, the home greets you with sloping terracotta tiled roofs, sturdy wooden pillars, and a grand, thick wooden entrance door adorned with traditional carvings and auspicious leaves, evoking a timeless South Indian charm. As you step inside, the spacious hall opens up with classic terracotta-style flooring, vintage brass lamps, and a central wooden swing that anchors the living space. Yet, this deep-rooted heritage flows seamlessly into a state-of-the-art, semi-modern kitchen, thoughtfully outfitted with sleek cabinetry, built-in appliances, and modern countertops to ensure everyday functionality. The bedrooms maintain that classic warmth with exposed wooden ceiling rafters and grand four-poster beds, offering a perfect sanctuary that respects our architectural roots while fully embracing the comforts of modern living.
